This weekend we spent a few days in Lexington. Jared had a conference for work, but the family was invited. We went last year and had a great time, so decided to go again. While Jared was in meetings the kids and I spent a lot of time at the pool.
My kids LOVE staying in a hotel. They literally run the halls like they own the place. They especially loved this hotel because of all the water fountains. They did hold still for at least two pictures. These days you can always count on Logan for one of his "pretty smiles."
We left on Saturday and headed to the Louisville zoo. The kids could not have been more excited. We had a pretty day, but hot. At one point I looked at both kids and they were ringing wet with sweat...but they were so good to not complain.
Blair of course since being older than Logan knew the names of all the animals. Logan, unless told otherwise called EVERYTHING a duck. It was so cute.Logan and Blair LOVED the gorilla's. It was probably one of their most favorite parts. There were LOTS of them and it probably helped that they were very easy to spot. One time we were looking at the gorilla's through some glass. I was standing behind the kids on this ledge. I just happened to look up and above our heads was a gorilla laying on a rock with his head hanging off. He wasn't moving, but he was staring right at us. I told Blair to look up...when I did her eyes got as big as dinner plates and she said "Mommy, I think he's saying, I knew that Blair girl would be here today!" Then she so very slowly backed off the ledge and climbed into the stroller. I was laughing so hard. Logan of course didn't mind, but stared back!!!! ha!
Sweet Logan LOVED the turtles. He has just recently been able to "spot" a turtle when he sees one on TV or in a book....and he's learned how to say it. The kids were riding in their stroller when we turned a corner and saw this.Logan must have said turtle 10 times before we could get him out of the stroller so he could get closer. We had to pull him off the fence so that other kids could get up closer...only to go around the corner to find more. From then on, all he said was turtle.
Here's the kids playing on a stone turtle.
There are times when these two can drive each other crazy. Then there are times when they couldn't love each other more...this was one of those times.
We had a BLAST and cannot wait to do it again!!!! I think the kids would agree!

These are wonderful memories to cherish forever. There is nothing like a zoo through the eyes of a child.
Great pics! They are both so cute! Logan saying "duck" reminds me of Caroline. For a long time, all animals quacked according to her! lol! Glad y'all had fun!
I don't know how but I've missed the last 2 posts! I love your latest though! Blair always cracks me up! I'd been wondering what you were up to in Lexington.
I definitely feel like I am missing out while we are over here. But we are about halfway through our time (a little more really) and we will have a nice long visit home over Christmas. So not too much longer!
Maybe we can skypte tomorrow. I think Alan will be gone in the morning so I can use the computer. So that would be Thursday night maybe around 8-8:30?
ok- talk to you soon! love ya!
That picture of them kissing almost made me cry! So sweet!
Love the pics...love the ZOO! Your kids are so cute.
That is hilarious that they love the hotel so much. How fun!
